State Senate puts Medical Cannabis bill on Governor Gregoire’s desk

I have heard through an attorney list serve that SB 5073 passed through reconciliation in the State Senate, and now awaits Governor Gregoire’s decision whether to sign it into law. The governor has hinted at an intent to veto the bill, and recently wrote a letter to Attorney General Holder seeking guidance regarding the Fed’s position on such issues as medical cannabis dispensaries and State involvement in regulation of medical cannabis. It seems that the governor would like to veto the bill; those who support it should probably take the time to contact her. Apparently she has 20 days to make a decision, and the bill will become law if she chooses to neither veto nor sign it.

UPDATE: The West Seattle Blog has a post regarding the passage of SB 5073, including recently released statements from the governor and the Seattle city government.
